BANK CSV & TABLE CLEANUP GUIDES
QuickBooks Australia bank feed stopped? Check the CSV fallback
If your QuickBooks bank feed has stopped during Australia's 2026 Open Banking transition, start with Intuit's migration instructions. A manual bank-file upload is a separate fallback. If you use CSV, check the missing date range, column meanings and overlap with transactions already in QuickBooks before importing.
This guide is written by the maker of SnapCommit, an independent bank CSV preparation tool. SnapCommit does not restore bank feeds. Its actual QuickBooks and Xero imports remain unverified.
First, check whether your feed needs migration
Intuit's Australian legacy-feed discontinuation notice describes a phased transition from 18 August to 3 December 2026. The dates vary by bank. Use the current timetable and migration steps in that notice rather than assuming every feed problem needs a CSV conversion.
Intuit identifies reconnecting through Open Banking and manually uploading transactions as alternatives after a legacy feed disconnects. Follow the official route appropriate to your account. You do not need to buy SnapCommit to follow Intuit's instructions.
If you choose CSV, prepare the missing period
- Identify what is already present. Check the relevant QuickBooks account and dates before downloading a file. Keep a note of the period you are filling, especially if the bank feed later resumes.
- Keep an untouched original. Download the bank's transaction CSV and work from a copy. Use one account and currency per preparation session. A PDF statement is not CSV text.
- Check structure and formats. Identify the date, description and amount fields. For separate money-in and money-out columns, confirm which is which. Inspect a date that makes the source order clear; do not infer it from your computer's region.
- Review overlap separately. Identical rows inside the file and transactions already in QuickBooks are different checks. A CSV-only tool cannot see your ledger or decide whether a transaction has already been imported.
Keep QuickBooks limits separate from tool limits
At the time of review, Intuit's Australian manual-upload guide specifies files of 350 KB or less and up to 1,000 transaction lines per upload. It describes three- or four-column CSV layouts and lists further formatting restrictions. Check that page and the destination's preview for your own file.
SnapCommit's offline limit of 2,000 transactions and 500 KB of input is a processing limit, not a promise that QuickBooks will accept that file. Use smaller source date ranges where necessary. SnapCommit does not automatically split a full export into destination-sized files.
Try the formatting step without trimming a file by hand
In SnapCommit's free bank CSV trial, open or paste a supported CSV, then choose Try the first 15 transactions. Inputs can contain up to 2,000 transactions within the stated input limits. The original source stays intact; the notice identifies how many transactions are omitted. All checks, totals and exports cover only the displayed sample.
Confirm the column mappings, source date order and number convention. The review can flag possible duplicate rows within that sample, while keeping them for inspection. Invalid transactions block export. Read the fictional worked example if you want to evaluate the process without using bank records.
A 15-transaction sample total is not a full-statement balance or reconciliation. Review the corresponding original entries and the destination's import preview. Do not assume passing the local checks establishes QuickBooks compatibility.
What the paid release adds
The current SnapCommit Offline release costs $29 USD once plus applicable tax, for one person. It includes the bank CSV beta and financial-table cleaner as local HTML tools. Bank prep supports up to 2,000 transactions per file, reusable setups with matching headers, and review logs. Processing stays on your device.
It does not categorize transactions, reconcile accounts, connect to a bank, read PDFs or convert currencies. Try the free sample first; see pricing, delivery and full limits before buying.
Sources and scope
Official Intuit pages were reviewed on 26 September 2026. Migration dates, upload limits and product interfaces can change; follow Intuit's current instructions. This page covers file preparation, not account-specific migration or bookkeeping decisions. SnapCommit is unaffiliated with Intuit or Xero.
